In recent months, MBI Systems has been contracted to survey a client's SalesLogix database and export it into a CSV format suitable foruse in another CRM system.  On the surface, this task looks easy.  The reality, though, is that it's a very detailed process where each field that you use in the SalesLogix CRM must be mapped to a corresponding field in the new CRM.

We approached this conversion with the objective of minimizing the impact to the client, and this planning paid off for us and for them.  By processing the export using an offline copy of the database, we were able to do multiple iterations of the export.  Working together with the new CRM system vendor, the client was able to see their data in the new CRM system while not impacting their SalesLogix system.

After weeks of planning, the export was scheduled for a weekend.  The client closed up shop on Friday evening and came back to a fully-operational Salesforce.com system the following Monday.
